Spring Gifts: How to Make Seed Tape Strips
From a very wonderful blog, GiversLog.com, I think these make a neat gift... fun to give friends...or grandkids... or neat projects for teachers to make with their classroom for mother's day gifts.... and you can even do some artwork to decorate the container you put them in!
This is an awesome blog - you'll love her stuff! http://www.giverslog.com/?p=2484

Eileen Downes -torn paper artist
http://animoto.com/play/IFcUqfIMVEWiT0lYwRQQmw?utm_source=eileendownes.com&utm_medium=player&utm_campaign=player
My collage artwork is composed of many layers of torn paper. I use torn magazine papers as my "palette of paint" working the image by adding and subtracting tonal values of paper until I create the desired effect. I enjoy how words, phrases, and imagery from the magazine papers appear almost magically between the edges of the torn paper adding to the meaning of the piece. I leave the rough edges of the collage visible which adds to the layered feeling, and I add a touch of oil pastel to enchance the textural quality of the rough glued papers.
archival matte medium and acid free backing paper for my artwork. The magazine paper is not acid free, but is from higher quality printed magazines. The artworks should be framed under glass or plexi without touching the artwork itself. Avoid placing the piece where it would be in direct sunlight.

Glues for Collage
There are dozens, maybe hundreds of adhesives available to use.
One good basic glue mix is 1 part white glue plus 1 part acrylic matte medium, applied with a brush
Heavy cardstock works, as do other heavy papers. 140# to 300# watercolor paper is great for special work. Cardboard is stiff enough but has so much acid in it that it's not recommended for work you want to give or sell.

Carol Wiebe - Design Generating Activity
Great idea from Carol Wiebe, keep a pad of tracing paper with you ...and a black pen and trace images and designs to be scanned to use for designs later.
